Cheesecloth is usually supplied wither in boxes or bolts. In the boxes, a 36" roll is 4-plied down to 9" and flat folded continuously for anywhere from 30 yards to 100 yards per box depending on the thread count of the material. Box put ups are often labeled handi-fold or nu-fold which are not to be confused with double and rolled bolts which is a 36" roll folded once to 18" and wrapped in clear plastic bags. Normally, there are 100 yards to a bolt for the lower thread counts and 50 yards to a bolt for the heavier thread counts. Cut to size sheets and narrow or wide width rolls are also occasionally specified for special applications.
